Katherine (Kate) Gardner, VMD
Chief of Staff
Dr. Katherine (Kate) Gardner, our Chief of Staff, grew up in Ingomar and Franklin Park, Pennsylvania and now resides in Amity. She received her undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1966, and then went on to earn a VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1969.
Prior to opening Meadowlands Veterinary Hospital in 1975, Dr. Gardner spent a one year residency in large animal pathology and four years at Castle Shannon Animal Hospital in Pittsburgh. Her medical interests include canine reproduction, pediatrics, and a wide range of pet surgeries.
At home with her husband Robert (Bob), they have an elderly siberian husky, a miniature bull terrier, a miniature wirehaired dachshund, a yellow nape amazon parrot and 4 Arabian horses. In her spare time, she enjoys showing her dogs and horses, traveling with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.
Dr. Gardner is an active member of the Society for Theriogenology (the branch of veterinary medicine which deals with animal reproduction), Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA), Western Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association (WPVMA), the Siberian Husky Club of America, the Bull Terrier Club of American, of which she is the Health Chaiman, the Golden Triangle Bull Terrier Club as Show Chairman and President of the South Hills Kennel Club. She also belongs to the Arabian Horse Association and the U.S. Equestrian Federation.
